Position Title: Lactation Consultant

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing superior telephonic customer service to clients in the area of lactation education and management. Responsibilities include focusing on the needs and concerns of the expectant woman as well as the breastfeeding mother-baby pair. The Lactation Consultant provides education, emotional support and guidance to promote the art of breastfeeding as well as assisting in recognizing, preventing and resolving breastfeeding challenges.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide lactation consultation to clients beginning with pregnancy, birth and beyond to assist them in the transition in returning to work.
  • Ensure high client satisfaction by actively listening to the client to determine needs, goals and action items.
  • Perform follow-up calls to the client to ensure that the care plan is effective and provide further coaching or education as required.
  • Assist client with securing and operating breast pumps.
  • Guarantee highest quality of client satisfaction by meeting LifeCare's call monitoring, telephonic, quality and production standards.
  • Perform test cases for potential Mothers at Work clients.
  • Assist in presenting Mothers at Work classes for internal and external clients. Infrequent travel is required.
  • And any and all responsibilities as assigned by management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultants.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills; demonstrated active listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize accordingly. Works efficiently and drives for results.
  • Excellent computer literacy and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis once every 3-4 weeks.
