Letter from the CEO
Dear Friends:

Flexibility at work is a wonderful benefit that gives people greater control over their lives. It can also offer employers some very attractive benefits such as reduced absenteeism and turnover, lower hiring and retraining costs, and improved job performance. But the fact is … flexible work arrangements simply don't work for every organization or for every industry.

So what can employers do when flexibility isn't in the cards? How can they compete for talent and gain “employer of choice” status? One proven and cost-effective way, of course, is to offer a comprehensive high-quality work/life program such as LifeCare's—one that gives employees access to child and elder care resources, health and wellness guidance, financial and legal assistance, etc. After all, work/life balance is about much more than a flexible work schedule. It's about helping workers manage their lives and their precious time more effectively. And that means putting expert people, tools and information at their fingertips. It's hard to beat trustworthy work/life programs to accomplish all of that, especially when you consider that these programs cost literally pennies per employee.

I'd also like to point out that flexible work arrangements don't benefit all employees; plenty of surveys have shown that lots of people don't want alternative schedules. But comprehensive work/life programs, such as LifeCare's, are for everyone—single people and families, women and men, younger and older workers.

Of course, the success of all work/life programs depends on your willingness to promote it. When you offer these great benefits, you've got to commit to promoting them on a steady and ongoing basis. That's not only the key to getting higher utilization of your programs but also to getting the greatest possible return on your small investment.

As always, we're interested in knowing how we can better serve you, so e-mail us at connection@lifecare.com, fax us at 203-291-3571, or call us at 800-873-4636 4636 to share ideas and offer feedback.

Sincerely,
