“Preparing to Breastfeed” CD-ROM Wins Two More Awards

LifeCare’s “Preparing to Breastfeed” course on CD-ROM has won two more awards: a 2004 Crystal Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards Association and a 2004 Award of Distinction from The Videographer Awards Association. These are the third and fourth awards that the CD-ROM has won in less than six months; in January 2004, LifeCare was presented with a Gold Mercury Award and a Grand Award from the International Academy of Communications Arts & Sciences.

The Communicator Awards Association honors excellence in communications through its annual award program, which recognizes entries that exceed a high standard of excellence and that serve as a benchmark of quality for others. And the Videographer Awards Association is an international program that honors talented individuals and companies in the video production field. Its 2004 Award of Distinction recognizes video-based projects that clearly exceed industry quality standards.

LifeCare’s award-winning CD-ROM was developed in conjunction with Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. The CD-ROM was designed to help companies deliver breastfeeding education to large, widely dispersed or highly mobile employee populations—thus reducing costs and the scheduling conflicts that often arise for these organizations. Equally important, the “Preparing to Breastfeed” CD-ROM allows individuals to confidentially access vital breastfeeding information in the privacy of their own home or office whenever it’s most convenient for them.

“A growing number of employers are using e-learning technologies to provide training on work/life issues, family matters and personal development,” says LifeCare co-founder and CEO, Peter G. Burki. “They understand that offering training in these ‘nontraditional’ areas is a great way to boost employee satisfaction and loyalty levels, and it also helps to raise employee morale and effectiveness on-the-job.”

“Preparing to Breastfeed” is just one example of the many work/life topics that LifeCare now offers its clients in digital or online format. Other topics include: Reducing Stress Management; Child Care Costs; Positive Parenting; Budgeting Basics; and Communicating with Your Older Loved One, among others.

LifeCare is now giving a free copy of the CD-ROM to every client employee who orders a breastpump through Mothers at Work®, the world’s leading workplace breastfeeding program, which provides prenatal education, 24/7 counseling from lactation consultants, insightful educational materials, and a variety of products that enable working women to better manage the challenge of breastfeeding and working. If you’d like to know more about the “Preparing to Breastfeed” CD-ROM or the Mothers at Work program, contact your account manager.
