New Online Services Help LifeCare Clients Minimize Health Risks, Reduce
Medical Expenses
Work/Life Offers Ideal Platform for Corporate Health and Wellness
Initiatives
LifeCare clients can now sign up for two new web-based services designed
to help them improve the health of their employees while reducing medical expenses for the
organization and employees alike. These new services are a state-of-the-art Health Risk
Assessment (HRA) tool and a suite of interactive Healthy Living Programs (HLPs), which LifeCare
is offering in partnership with two highly respected organizations: Miavita, a leader in
the delivery of action-oriented health programs, and Gordian Health Solutions, a leading
creator of results-oriented wellness and disease management solutions.

The HRA generates a detailed report of an employee’s health risk factors
and recommends tests, medical services and lifestyle changes to minimize future risks. The
online HLPs are action-oriented, six-week programs that address a variety of health issues
such as cancer, diabetes, smoking, stress, diet and nutrition. What makes LifeCare’s integrated
offering truly unique is the fact that the HRA delivers a comprehensive risk report and
action plan with direct links to the specific HLPs that individuals can immediately enroll
in to begin improving their health.
“That’s the true power of our integrated health and wellness offeringsenabling
employees to take immediate, positive action to reduce their particular health risks,” says
LifeCare co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Jeffrey A. Burki. “We're offering a level
of immediacy and personalization that other providers simply don't match. And we believe
that this makes a tremendous difference in the quality of the service we provide and in
the success rates of clients and employees who are serious about managing and reducing their
health risks and overall costs.”
Work/Life – The Perfect Platform
Burki notes that LifeCare has been diligently enhancing its health and wellness
content for the past several months, adding thousands of articles and a host of online tools
such as a health encyclopedia, a symptom checker, a drug database and more.
The reason behind this renewed focus on health and wellness? “It’s simple,”
Burki states. “Work/life is an ideal platform for offering health and wellness programs
to employees. In too many organizations, these programs are offered through the organizations'
medical carriers and this creates problems. First of all, these carriers typically don't
promote health and wellness programs with regularity or with much creativity. The programs
simply go unnoticed and unused. And second, many employers have multiple medical carriers,
none of which deliver exactly the same health and wellness programs. So there’s a lack of
consistency in what's being offered to employeesand no way to get company-wide wellness
reporting. In other organizations, employees have medical coverage through a spouse, so
they're not even eligible to take advantage of particular health programs.”
No such problem exists when health and wellness programs are delivered through
a work/life platform, Burki says. “Work/life offerings reach everyone in an organization,
so a platform such as LifeCare’s can deliver the best possible results in terms of consistency
and utilization.”
LifeCare also offers clients health and wellness resources and referrals,
online content from Healthwise, on-site screenings, fitness club subsidy administration,
discounts on health and wellness products and services, and on-site seminars to help employers
provide well-rounded, uniform wellness programs to employees.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with Miavita and Gordian, two
organizations that are widely known for their quality and their commitment to people,” Burki
says. “Like LifeCare, they’re dedicated to helping people improve their quality of life,
both on and off the job.”
