Dr. Barney Spivack, M.D., Joins LifeCare® as Medical Director
WESTPORT, CT, July 24, 2007
LifeCare®,
Inc., provider of comprehensive specialty care services

announced that Dr. Barney Spivack has joined the company
as Medical Director, responsible for offering guidance
and medical expertise to LifeCare's product development
and content teams, as well as assisting senior management
with setting strategy for the company's Successful AgingSM
Services and work/life direct business. In addition,
Dr. Spivack will be instrumental in helping LifeCare's
senior team create new services that help client organizations
better control healthcare expenses by improving employee
health. He reports to Peter G. Burki, LifeCare's CEO.
Dr. Spivack's medical career spans
more than 25 years, with a focus on the care of older
adults, chronic disease, and long-term care. Prior to
joining LifeCare, he was the Director of Medical Services
at Waveny Care Network in New Canaan, Connecticut. Before
that, he was Director of Geriatric Medicine at Norwalk
and Stamford Hospitals. Dr. Spivack is a certified medical
director and is board certified in internal medicine,
rheumatology and geriatric medicine. In addition, he
is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia
University. He has worked to improve the quality of
care for older adults and is a former member of the
board of directors of the American Geriatrics Society,
representing over 6,000 geriatricians and other professionals
nationally. Dr. Spivack also is active in the American
Medical Directors Association and is President of the
Connecticut Geriatrics Society.

Dr. Spivack graduated with honors in
English from Brooklyn College of the City University
of New York. He earned his M.D. from the Mount Sinai
School of Medicine in 1978 and was elected to Alpha
Omega Alpha, the national honor medical society. He
was trained in internal medicine at Bellevue-New York
University Medical Center and did fellowship training
at Brown University.
Dr. Spivack and his wife, Dr. Robin
Oshman, reside in Westport, Connecticut.
