“The competition for talent never ends,
so knowing what kinds of support programs people value
most is a real strategic advantage,” said LifeCare CEO,
Peter G. Burki. “Employers who conduct their own internal
polls regarding support programs also send the clear
message to their employees that they care about them
as people outside of the workplace.”
Burki adds that employers must also
follow through on delivering the support that people
say they value. “One very effective and inexpensive
way to do so is to engage a high-quality work/life partner
such as LifeCare. We deliver results-oriented programs
in all of the categories mentioned in the poll, and
we've developed new and enhanced programs in several
of them,” he said.
One of LifeCare's most recently launched
enhanced programs is its Backup Care ConnectionSM
program, which helps people make alternative care arrangements
for children and seniors when regular care arrangements
break down. The program not only helps employees avoid
missing work but it also generates the kind of goodwill
that can bestow “employer of choice” status on an organization.
The Backup Care Connection program features a large
and high-quality network of nearly 2,000 certified child
care facilities and 75,000 credentialed in-home caregivers;
national coverage; guaranteed and direct placement in
a local facility or with an in-home caregiver; and very
low co-pays, so that employees are actually encouraged
to use the program.
Each month, LifeCare posts a poll on
its private members' web site asking individuals to
share their thoughts and opinions on the latest issues
and work/life trends. Past polls have addressed topics
such as work/life balance, family caregiving challenges,
aging, flexible work arrangements, and barriers to on-the-job
productivity.
